A 62-year-old Connecticut man who was pulled from the water at Sherwood Island Stat Park during a triathlon over the weekend died at Norwalk Hospital on Monday.
Robert Hartline, of Wallingford, was participating in the swimming portion of Sunday’s event when a lifeguard in a kayak spotted him in distressed and went to assist him.
Reports say Hartline, who was a member of the Wilton-based Team in Training, was conscious when the lifeguard brought him to the kayak, but he lost consciousness before they got to land.
He was rushed to Norwalk Hospital, where he died Monday.
The cause of Hartline’s death was not immediately known.
