A California weather reporter was shot in the hand while reporting from the streets of Fontana Saturday evening.
KABC 7 News’ Leanne Suter was reporting the weather live near Summit Ave and the 15 Freeway around 6:00 p.m. Saturday, when she was shot in the hand with a pellet from a BB gun.
Police were able to trace the pellet to a nearby house, where they apprehended two teen boys, ages 16 and 17.
Sutter, who has worked for the local TV station since 2003, was taken to a local hospital, where she was treated then released.
Authorities say the boys, who were charged with assault with a dangerous weapon, were firing the weapon from their back yard in the direction of the news van, which was also struck with pellets.
The boys were later released to their parents.
