Authorities in New York City said two elderly women were shot in the head inside a Manhattan apartment before their bodies were set on fire.

Firefighters were called to the first-floor apartment at 83 Henry Street in Chinatown around 10:30 a.m. Friday were they found the two bodies, a woman in her 70s and another in her 50s, already dead.

Authorities said after the women were shot, their killer set two fires inside the apartment of the six-story building near the Manhattan Bridge.  One  in the kitchen and the other  in a bedroom.

The victims’ identities have not yet been released.
