A local New York City TV news reporter has filed a countersuit against her contractor who is suing her for more than $100,000 he claims she still owes him for work that he did on her Westchester County home.

According to paperwork filed by Yonkers builder Cathal Maguire, in 2011, WABC- TV Eyewitness News anchor Liz Cho and her husband, Evan Gottlieb, hired him to renovate their $2.2 million home in Yonkers.

Maguire claims that he did $430,875 worth of work on the 9 bedrooms, four baths mansion, but to date, Cho and her husband have failed to pay him the full amount.  He claims that they still owe him $100,875.

Cho and her husband filed a countersuit earlier this month listing 105 examples of substandard work done by Maguire. They also claim that Maguire had verbally agreed not to exceed $343,000 in costs without their consent.  They also accused the builder of “fraudulently” inflating fees by “misrepresenting” work performed and materials purchased.

The couple claims it will cost them more than $300,000 to fix these problems, which includes an “unusable” powder room, “misshaped” driveway and uneven floors.

Maguire’s attorney disputes the couple’s claims saying that they were happy with his work until he filed a mechanic’s lien on their home in December.
