Wal-Mart Shopper Slaps Crying Child

A shopper who became enraged about a crying child inside a Wal-Mart store is accused of slapping the girl in the face, authorities said.

Last Monday, Roger Stephens had warned the child’s mother, Sonya Mathews that if she didn’t quiet down her daughter he would do it for her.

Mathews failed to quiet her 2-year-old daughter, Paige, so the 61-year-old man walked up to both mother and daughter and slapped the child several times in the face then told the mother, “See, I told you I would shut her up.”

Stephens was charged with cruelty to children in the first degree and he is being held without bond.
