A rep for Alex Karras announced a few minutes ago that the football great died early this morning.

There are reports that former NFL player turned actor Alexander George “Alex” Karras is near death’s door.
Seventy-seven year old Karras, who was drafted 10th overall by the Detroit Lions in 1958, is said to be suffering from kidney failure as well as dementia.
The Associated Press is reporting that Karras was recently sent home from a California hospital to live out his final days with his wife, Susan Clark, and their daughter.
Karras is best known on television for his role as Emmanuel Lewis’ adoptive father, George Papadapolis, in the hit 1980′s TV show Webster.
Karras’ wife also played his wife on the show.
Before joining the NFL, Karras was a professional wrestler.
