Police in Westport, Connecticut, are searching for the suspect who shot and killed the owner of a jewelry company in his office on Thursday.

It is believed the lone gunman shot and killed 59-year-old Yekutiel Zeevi inside his second-floor office  located at 431 Post Road East in the Compo Shopping Center.

Another person, who is believed to have been a worker, was also wounded.

Zeeve was the owner of Y.Z Jewelry manufacturing, a non retail jewelry company that makes customized pieces to order.

A family friend told reporters that he doesn’t believe it was a random act of violence, but he did not say who he thought committed the deadly act.

Zeevi, who ran the business for the last 30 years, was a member of Temple Israel in Westport.

As of press time the condition of the wounded helper was available.

Authorities in Spain have arrested a 41-year-old man who is suspected of killing Westport jeweler Yekutiel Zeevi, the owner of YZ Manufacturers.

Andrew Robert Levene, also known as Robert Thomas, was arrested Monday morning by Spanish National Police.

Westport authorities say Levene went to Zeevi jewelry company at 431 Post Road East in early December and asked to see several diamonds valued between $45,000 and $75,000.

Levene met with Zeevi and his associate, Ronen Konfino, again on December 7, to re-examine the diamonds, which were 2 to 3 carats in size. He left that day telling Zeevi that he needed to “sleep on it” before making a decision.

On December 8, Levene went back to Zeevi’s office and asked to see the same diamonds along with several others, valued around $300,000.

After looking at the diamonds, Levene took out a gun and shot the men then fled with the diamonds.

Authorities say he drove to Philadelphia then on December 11 he flew from Philly to Amsterdam.
